Man Utd Women’s Leah Galton agrees contract extension

Manchester United Women’s forward Leah Galton has agreed a contract extension with the club.

The 29-year-old’s existing contract expires this summer, however, an announcement is expected in the coming days that she has signed terms for a new two-year deal that includes an option to extend for a further 12 months.

Galton, who joined United in 2018, has made over 100 appearances for the Women’s Super League (WSL) side.

Several United players are in talks over their contract situations, including goalkeeper and BBC Sports Personality of the Year for 2023 Mary Earps.

Galton, a left-footed winger, signed her previous contract in February 2021 after a string of impressive performances that saw her named WSL Player of the Month for December 2020.

Having represented England’s youth teams from under-15 to under-23 level, Galton was called up to the senior side by former national team coach Phil Neville in 2019. However, she turned it down as she said she wasn’t ready after taking a brief time-out of the game and “falling out of love with football” at the time.

United are fourth in the WSL table and their next fixture is against Brighton on Sunday.
