Tottenham have completed the signing of Lucas Bergvall from Djurgården in a deal worth a fixed fee of approaching €10million (£8.5m, $10.9m) plus add-ons.

The Atheltic revealed on Thursday that the 18-year-old had chosen to join the north London side over Barcelona.

The midfielder has emerged as one of Europe’s most coveted prospects and it appeared he would be signing for the Spanish club until Spurs, led by their Danish technical director Johan Lange, managed to convince the Swede to opt for them.

Bergvall, who will join Spurs on July 1 of this year, has signed a six-year deal that will keep him at the club until 2029.

The teenager is already a Sweden international, making his debut for the senior side during their 2-1 victory over Estonia last month.
