Inter Miami suffer yet another huge injury blow before MLS regular season

Everyone knew Inter Miami‘s preseason tour would be a grind. Playing seven total matches in five different countries was going to be hard enough, but the tour is already a disaster after just two games.

First came an injury to Facundo Farias, the super-talented 21-year-old Argentinian midfielder who was going to play a big role this season. A knee injury suffered in the first preseason game will keep him out for the entire season, most likely.

Benjamin Cremaschi out for multiple months

Now, yet another young talent will be out for an extended period of time. Midfielder Benjamin Cremaschi underwent surgery to repair a sports hernia and is expected to miss between two to three months, the club announced on Saturday.

That timeline should see Cremaschi be back about a quarter of the way into the 2024 MLS regular season, but the team will be in a very precarious midfield situation until then with him and Farias unavailable.

Cremaschi burst onto the scene in 2023, becoming a key figure in the team and developing great on-field chemistry with Lionel Messi and others. His great performances earned the 18-year-old a call-up to the U.S. Men’s National Team.

Miami still has an assortment of midfielders to plug in with Sergio Busquets, Gregore, Diego Gomez, David Ruiz and a few others being able to man the middle of the pitch. But with four competitions to take part in throughout the year, the team needs as much depth as possible.
