Arsenal edged PSV 1-0 in the Europa League thanks to Granit Xhaka’s goal at the Emirates Stadium.
Mikel Arteta’s side were in control of the match from start to finish, but it took until the 70th minute for them to finally break through. Arsenal dominated the stat sheet, bettering their opponents in shots 25 to four and in expected goals 2.63 to 0.32.
But PSV showed flashes of danger on the counter-attack, with Xavi enjoying most of the Dutch club’s chances. Walter Benitez shone the brightest for Ruud van Nistelrooy’s men, making seven saves in an impressive effort in goal.
With two matches remaining, the north London side have clinched a spot in the top two of their group. Arsenal and PSV will meet again in Eindhoven in seven days’ time.
