Everton manager Sean Dyche has commended Manchester City striker Erling Haaland for his performance and goals against the Toffees on Saturday.

Haaland scored his first goals for City in their 2-0 victory over Everton, marking his return to action after recovering from a niggling ankle issue.

After playing a pivotal role in securing another victory for his side, Haaland promptly received praise from the Everton boss.

Speaking to the media, via Liverpool Echo, after witnessing his side’s 2-0 defeat, Dyche shared his thoughts on Haaland and the goals he scored on the day.

“I must say his finish for the first one, I have been speaking to the players recently about this, footballers scoring trendy goals – whippers, dippers, clippers. He [Haaland] doesn’t think about that. Just score a goal. That’s the trendiest thing you’ll ever do. And he showed that today, a good technique. Just smash it and don’t worry about anything else.”

Despite having only 26 touches of the ball across the 90 minutes, Haaland, who has now played 18 Premier League games this season, has scored an impressive 16 goals. His ability to make the most of the limited goalscoring opportunities is evident, as both shots on target he had during the match resulted in goals.

The big Norwegian’s goals, which only totalled an expected goals of 0.47 [SofaScore], dealt a hammer blow to the survival hopes of Everton while also aiding Manchester City’s title aspirations.
