The 2022 World Cup saw Argentina crowned as champions, handing Leo Messi the trophy that he so craved.
He wasn’t the only star though, as goalkeeper Emi Martnez was a major part of the success. There were also youngsters who contributed like Enzo Fernandez, named the best young player and another one like Julian Alvarez, who scored four goals.
It should be remembered that Alvarez did not start the first game, as that place was occupied by Lautaro Martinez at the beginning. However, Lionel Scaloni put his trust in the Manchester City striker. Alvarez did not disappoint and responded with four goals, with a spectacular performance leading Argentina’s offensive line.
Julian Alvarez is back in Argentina celebrating the World Cup title, together with his family and friends, although he is also resting before returning to club football in England. Everything seemed to be going well for Alvarez until he was called to leave his girlfriend by social media users.
Apparently, some users online did not like the attitude of his girlfriend, Emilia Ferrero. Through the page change.org they have gathered a collection of signatures, under the name of ‘Julian, break up with Mary Jane’. It has already surpassed 12,000 signatures.
The controversy arose through a video that circulated on social media, in which Alvarez is seen approached by children seeking an autograph from the player. Emilia only let them take a group photo, ruling out any signatures. This was criticized on social media and she has been nicknamed ‘Mary Jane’ as a result, because the player is called the Spider.
