UEFA has appointed Slovenian referee Slavko Vincic to referee the men’s Champions League final, while English official Rebecca Welch will take charge of the women’s final.

Vincic, 44, will be assisted by compatriots Tomaz Klancnik and Andraz Kovacic for June’s showpiece between Borussia Dortmund and Real Madrid, while Rade Obrenovic is on VAR. It is the same team of officials who took charge of the Champions League quarter-final second leg between Dortmund and Atletico Madrid.

The fixture at Wembley marks the second major European final Vincic has been appointed to as referee after he took charge of the 2022 Europa League final between Eintracht Frankfurt and Rangers.

Welch, 40, this season became the Premier League’s first female referee when she was selected for December’s fixture between Fulham and Burnley.

She was also the fourth official for last season’s Women’s Champions League final, as Barcelona beat Wolfsburg, and will be assisted by fellow English officials Natalie Aspinall and Emily Carney for May’s final between Barcelona and Lyon. Stuart Attwell, the official whose integrity was publicly questioned by Nottingham Forest following April’s loss to Everton, is on VAR duty. He has also been selected for VAR duty at this summer’s European Championship in Germany.

Romanian referee Istvan Kovacs has been appointed to the Europa League final between Atalanta and Bayer Leverkusen.

Kovacs, 39, took charge of the 2022 Europa Conference League final between Roma and Feyenoord, the first in this competition. He also refereed this season’s Champions League quarter-final second leg between Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain, where he faced criticism from Barcelona head coach Xavi for his decision to send off Ronald Araujo as the La Liga side exited the competition.

Portuguese official Artur Soares Dias, 44, has been selected as the referee for the Conference League final between Olympiacos and Fiorentina, marking his first appointment to a UEFA club competition final.
