The American Christian Pulisic, currently playing for Chelsea, sees his future further and further away from the English club, as he is not in Mauricio Pochettino‘s plans.
As a result of this, it is clear he is on the market and Lyon have reportedly shown a concrete interest in signing the former Borussia Dortmund star.
According to reports from The Athletic, the French side have made an offer of 25 million euros (27.2 million dollars) for the United States international. However, according to ESPN, Pulisic himself is understood to wish to move to AC Milan, which is likely going to cause a bidding war between the two teams.
The player has an agreement in principle with the Italians to join the team and play in the Champions League, one of his great desires for next year, especially when he is expected to lead the USMNT into their home World Cup in 2026.
However, the Rossoneri must improve their offer to sign the American. Chelsea have rejected an initial proposal of 15 million euros and want at least 25 million euros for the player, something which Lyon have put on the table.
Future away from England?
Signed for 64 million euros in 2018, Pulisic enjoyed some good times in a Chelsea shirt. In 145 appearances for the English club, the striker scored 26 goals and won the Champions League, UEFA Super Cup and Club World Cup titles.
However, the American is looking for a new home to revitalize his stagnating career, as well as boosting his confidence ahead of the next World Cup.
“It’s absolutely a time where I need to figure out what’s going to be best for my future and be somewhere where I can go and play and be trusted and feel good about what I’m doing,” he told ESPN.
