The ‘Harry Kane soap opera’ seems to be coming to an end. The Tottenham forward will become the most expensive signing in the history of Bayern Munich, who will pay 100 million euros, plus 20 million in add-ons. More than a month of negotiations in which Daniel Levy rejected up to three Bavarian offers for the English striker are now behind us. The most surreal point came on Thursday.
After the agreement between the clubs was made public there was speculation that Kane would back out and serve out the remaining year of his contract with Tottenham.
“The decision is 50-50,” they claimed in Germany, saying Kane was delighted with Ange Postecoglou‘s arrival on the Spurs bench.
Nothing could be further from the truth. It was, in fact, a contractual and economic problem between Kane and Tottenham itself. Negotiations between the club and the player’s entourage on the termination of his contract dragged on through the night and, finally, an agreement was reached.
Everything is now ready for Kane to sign his new contract with Bayern until 2027. The 30-year-old Englishman is expected to travel to Munich on Friday to undergo a medical and be presented.
While Kane was at the airport in London, Spurs requested more alterations. Kane is still awaiting confirmation from Levy, who is in the United States and the time difference is delaying the finalisation of the deal.
Kane fit for German Super Cup debut
But Sky Sports Germany are going one step further. They claim that Kane, if all goes well at the medical, wants to make his debut this Saturday against RB Leipzig in the German Super Cup.
He is certainly in form: in his last game for Tottenham, against Shakthar Donetsk (5-1), he scored four goals.
