Atletico Madrid and Barcelona have reached an agreement over Yannick Carrasco and the Blaugrana will have the option to sign the 29-year-old winger in June for 20 million euros.
The Catalans wanted to bring in the Belgium international in January in their bid to fill in the void that Memphis Depay will leave in the squad.
However, Atletico are unwilling to weaken their squad for the last stretch of the season, but they have agreed to cash in on Carrasco in the summer.
Meanwhile, Memphis will move to Los Rorjiblancos in exchange for 3m euros plus another 1m euros in variables. He will put pen to paper on a one-and-a-half year deal until 2025.
The details of the Carrasco clause
As for Carrasco, his agent Pini Zahavi has informed Atletico that his client has received several offers before the club agreed to introduce a 20m euro buyout clause in the event Barcelona move for him in June.
His current deal expires in 2024, but no club is expected to trigger his 60m euro buyout clause in the summer, as Carrasco will be allowed to negotiate his future in January 2024.
It has to be noted, that the aforementioned purchase option is not obligatory. This means that Barcelona can decide whether they are still willing to make a move for Carrasco in the summer.
