The Saudi Pro League continues to ‘bang on the table’. In addition to the arrivals of Cristiano Ronaldo (Al-Nassr), Karim Benzema and N’Golo Kante (Al-Ittihad) and Ruben Neves and Kalidou Koulibaly (Al-Hilal), Marcelo Brozovic (Zagreb, 1992) has now joined the ranks of the Saudi Pro League.
The 30-year-old Croatian international midfielder will join Cristiano at Al-Nassr and Inter will receive 18 million euros for the transfer. The Croatian, after a long negotiation that has had ups and downs, will have a salary that will exceed 75 million euros.
The Croatian, curiously, had been linked as a possible replacement for Sergio Busquets at Barcelona. His departure comes a year after renewing his contract with the Nerazzurri and Inter ‘releases’ 12 million euros gross from the wage bill.
Brozovic‘s departure ends an era at Inter. The Croatian is, according to Opta, the midfielder in Serie A with the most passes (14,585) since his arrival.
In that time he has won five titles: a Serie A title (2021), two Coppa Italias (2022 and 2023) and two Supercoppa Italianas (2021 and 2022). He was also part of the team that reached the Champions League final this season with Inter.
Brozovic, signed from Dinamo Zagreb for 5m euros, has made 330 appearances, scored 31 goals and dished out 43 assists with Inter.
