Omari Hutchinson has been called up to the England Under-21 squad for their upcoming European Championship qualifiers, despite previously representing the Jamaica national team.
The 20-year-old Ipswich Town forward has been capped on two occasions by Jamaica’s senior men’s side, having made his debut in March 2023 against Trinidad and Tobago.
However, Hutchinson is set to feature this month for interim manager Ben Futcher when England face Ukraine on October 11 and Azerbaijan four days later.
FIFA rules state that players can switch international allegiance as long as they have made fewer than three senior appearances for one nation before the age of 21 and have not played for them for at least three years.

Jamaica, meanwhile, are under the impression Hutchinson wants to play for England in the future.
Hutchinson played a vital role in helping Ipswich achieve promotion to the Premier League last season, having spent last season on loan at Portland Road from Chelsea.
He scored 10 goals and assisted six times in 44 Championship appearances as Ipswich finished second, gaining automatic promotion to the English top-flight.
Hutchinson joined Ipswich permanently in the summer from Stamford Bridge after the two clubs agreed a deal of £20million plus £2.5m in add-ons and a 20 per cent sell-on. He signed a five-year deal.
