Charlotte FC has submitted a bid around $9.5 million for attacking midfielder Albert Grønbæk from FK Bodø/Glimt, sources briefed on the talks tell The Athletic.

Grønbæk, 22, is a rising Danish youth international who has made 70 appearances for Bodø/Glimt. He had his best season as a pro in 2023, with 12 goals and eight assists in 34 domestic matches between the Norwegian top flight and cup. He also added four goals and two assists in 12 Europa Conference League matches (qualifiers and group stage).

Bodø/Glimt advanced to the knockout rounds of the Conference League, making a potential deal for Charlotte more difficult. Several teams across Europe have had interest as well, reportedly including Napoli, Galatasaray and Leicester.

If accepted, the deal would be a new club-record sale for Bodø/Glimt, eclipsing the likes of Hugo Vetlesen, Erik Botheim and Victor Boniface.

The attacker, who can play centrally or on either wing, began his career with Aarhus GF in his native Denmark, where he had eight goals and eight assists before making the move to Bodø/Glimt.
