Mexico international Santiago Gimenez has completed a permanent move to Milan.

Gimenez, 23, has joined on a contract until June 2029, having spent the past two and a half seasons with Dutch club Feyenoord.

The striker was previously the subject of multiple transfer offers from Nottingham Forest in the summer but the Premier League side could not agree a deal with Feyenoord.

He remained at the Rotterdam-based club after the summer transfer deadline and scored 16 goals in 19 appearances for the Eredivisie team. He registered 65 goals in 105 games in total for Feyenoord.

Milan, meanwhile, let Alvaro Morata depart for Galatasaray earlier on deadline day, with Tammy Abraham and Luka Jovic the remaining options at striker for head coach Sergio Conceicao.

Milan are also close to completing a loan move for Chelsea’s Joao Felix, with the Italian side set to pay a £5million loan fee and all of the Portuguese forward’s wages.

Gimenez came through the academy at Cruz Azul in his native Mexico and scored 21 goals in 105 appearances before joining Feyenoord in 2022. He has also played 32 times for the national team, scoring four times.

Milan are eighth in Serie A, five points behind fourth-placed Juventus with a game in hand.
