Juventus have completed the signing of goalkeeper Michele Di Gregorio from Monza.

The Serie A club confirmed on Friday Di Gregorio was undergoing a medical, and his move has now been officially announced.

The 26-year-old joins Juventus ahead of Thiago Motta’s debut season in charge after he was appointed Max Allegri’s successor in June.

Di Gregorio is a product of the Inter Milan youth system but never made a senior appearance for the club.

He joined Monza on an initial loan from Inter in 2020 before making the move permanent in 2022. He has made 144 appearances in all competitions across four seasons at the club.

The former Italy youth international made 33 Serie A appearances last season, keeping 14 clean sheets as Monza finished 12th.

The Juventus move for Di Gregorio comes amid uncertainty surrounding first choice goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny’s future.

The Athletic reported Al Nassr have been in talks with Juventus over the signing of Szczesny. The Poland goalkeeper has reached an agreement in principle with the Saudi Arabian club on a two-year contract which will be worth in the region of €19million (£16m, $20.4m) per year.

Szczesny joined Juventus from Arsenal in 2017, winning eight trophies, including three Serie A titles. His Juventus contract runs until 2025.

Juventus finished third in Serie A last season and won the Coppa Italia. Allegri was dismissed in May and Motta was subsequently appointed, joining from Bologna on the back of delivering Champions League football next season for the first time since 1964-65.
