Everton defender Ben Godfrey will undergo a medical in Italy today ahead of his proposed transfer to Atalanta.
The Athletic reported earlier this week that Everton had received a €10million (£8.46m) offer from the Serie A side for the defender; a verbal proposal which fell below Everton’s asking price.
However, an agreement has now been reached between the clubs for the 26-year-old, who is about to enter the final 12 months of his contract at Everton.
The transfer will strengthen Everton’s position on compliance with the Premier League’s profit and sustainability rules (PSR) ahead of the accountancy deadline of June 30.
Godfrey made 93 appearances across four seasons at Goodison Park since joining from Norwich City in the summer of 2020.
The defender — who was capped twice at senior level for England in 2021 — began his career at York City before spending four seasons at Carrow Road.
Tim Iroegbunam has signed from Aston Villa while Jack Harrison has re-joined on a season-long loan from Leeds United.
More incomings are likely at Goodison Park with Marseille striker Iliman Ndiaye having travelled to Merseyside on Wednesday for a medical ahead of a £15m move.
