Sergio Perez's future at Red Bull takes shocking new twist as MARCA drop bombshell F1 report

Perez is under pressure after a disappointing 2024 season.

Sergio Perez’s future with Red Bull Racing has reportedly been decided as a bombshell report has revealed a shock twist in the saga.

Perez’s future in Formula One has been up in the air for several months as the Mexican driver has continued to disappoint for Red Bull Racing this season.

With the 34-year-old sitting eighth in the 2024 drivers champions ship table and a massive 242 points behind teammate Max Verstappen, many reports have suggested that he will be replaced for the 2025 season.

But now, a new report has revealed a shock twist regarding Perez’s future with Red Bull next year.

According to Spanish outlet MARCA, Perez will maintain his seat with Red Bull next season after signing a new lucrative sponsorship deal to go along with his current sponsorships.

The new deal will reportedly allow Perez to develop clothing and merchandising products, which would requite a series of approvals from Red Bull’s economic team, after approval by team principal Christian Horner.

Perez is currently under contract with Red Bull until 2025, having signed an extension to his previous deal over the summer, and it is now believed that he will see out the end of this contract.

MARCA wrote: “Those who consider him written off will have to wait a little longer, as he has a contract through 2025. Unless something changes at the last minute (which is not impossible at Red Bull), it looks like he is going to honour that contract.”

The news comes after Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko made several comments suggesting that Perez’s future at Red Bull was far from certain.

But, following his teammate’s incredible comeback win at the Brazilian Grand Prix, the Mexican addressed reports about his future.

He said: “It’s just rumours, at the end of the day. You will see me in Vegas, you will see me next year. I’m not the one that worries about it.”

When asked specifically about Marko’s comments, Perez doubled down, adding: “Well, I know I am [going to be here]. That’s all I can say.”

Having impressed since replacing Daniel Riccardo at Racing Bull, Liam Lawson has emerged as the favourite to replace Perez should he lose his seat at Red Bull.
