Ruud van Nistelrooy wants to make a ‘freakish’ Manchester United star his first Leicester City signing.
Van Nistelrooy was appointed Leicester boss following his interim spell at Man United following the dismissal of Erik ten Hag.
And he got off to a dream start as his new side beat West Ham United 3-1 on Tuesday, prompting a bold reaction from Man United fans.
Despite the big win, Leicester still find themselves in a precarious position in the Premier League table.
The Foxes currently occupy 16th place, with 13 points on the board.
Naturally, Van Nistelrooy hopes to reinforce his squad in a bid to avoid relegation.
And it appears he’s set to raid his old club once the January transfer window opens.
According to The Sun, the 48-year-old Dutchman is ‘planning to use his contacts’ at Man United to sign Toby Collyer.
The legendary forward is set to make a loan bid for the budding midfielder.
He believes the 20-year-old could be a key asset in their battle to remain in England’s top flight.
Van Nistelrooy is well aware of Collyer’s ability, having worked closely with him during his time as assistant to Ten Hag.
The youngster has produced ‘freakish’ running stats in training, impressing the Man United coaching staff.
Man United, however, have no interest in selling Collyer but they could be open to a loan move, with the player making just three appearances this season amid an injury-hit campaign.
Collyer, who was snapped up from Brighton, made his first-team debut in the 2024 Community Shield, coming on as a substitute.
He then made his Premier League bow when he replaced Casemiro in Man United’s 3-0 home defeat to Liverpool earlier this season.

Van Nistelrooy, meanwhile, described Leicester’s victory over West Ham as a ‘great night’ and hailed his team’s fighting spirit.
“In the end you look at the result and the three points, in the position that we are in, it’s vital,” he said after the result. “With the other fixtures of this round we knew it was a big one for us. The result is what matters but I have also seen the game and West Ham were dominant. I think our fighting spirit got us through the game and we were effective in scoring. A great night.”
Van Nistelrooy’s Leicester resume their league campaign on Sunday when they host Brighton.
