Ruben Amorim has already decided his first act as Manchester United manager ahead of replacing Erik ten Hag.

Amorim is poised to take charge of Man United, who are willing to meet Sporting CP’s release clause after making him their No.1 managerial target.

He took charge of his current side’s cup clash on Tuesday as fans gave him a warm reception in a classy moment.

The 39-year-old is expected to lead Sporting in their league fixture on Friday before potentially taking charge of Man United ahead of their Europa League tie PAOK next Thursday.

Ahead of being appointed, he has already decided his first act.

According to Mais Futebol, Amorim’s first act at Man United will be employing his own backroom staff.

He wants to take three coaches from Sporting with him to Old Trafford.

Amorim is set to be joined by Daniel Fernandes, Adelio Candido and goalkeeper coach Jorge Vital, with the trio working alongside him at Braga before following him to Sporting.

This spells bad news for Man United’s current backroom staff, which includes former player Ruud van Nistelrooy and Rene Hake, who both arrived at the club in the summer.

Van Nistelrooy will lead the Red Devils in tonight’s Carabao Cup fixture against Leicester City and he could also be in charge of their Premier League game against Chelsea on Sunday before Amorim is appointed.

Amorim guided his current side to the next round of the Portuguese cup following their 3-1 victory over Nacional.

Speaking after the match, the touched on his future, saying: “There was the club’s statement and that’s the only thing they have at the moment. There is interest from Manchester United, there is the payment of a clause and then, when I have something more concrete, I will tell you, because it is always my choice.

“When everything hasn’t been decided, one way or the other, there’s no point in talking much more, because otherwise we’ll create noise.

“I’m not going to say anything properly, because I don’t have anything useful to say. Just saying that I will take on whatever I want to do, as I have always done throughout my time as a player and even as a coach. Regarding the game, it was a strange game, a strange environment.”
