Christian Pulisic‘s curse at Chelsea has no end. Now, the player will have to be out for two months with a knee injury, coach Graham Potter confirmed on Wednesday.
The United States international suffered a right knee injury in Chelsea‘s 1-0 loss to Manchester City last week. And that injury will keep him out of action for an extended period of time.
« We think Christian will be out for a couple of months. Hopefully it will be less, but that’s the time frame, » Potter said ahead of Thursday’s Premier League game against Fulham.
New signing Joao Felix could make his debut in that same game.
« It’s a positive for us. We’ll see about Thursday’s game. We are still waiting for confirmation to play, but he was present training today, » Potter said.
As for Pulisic it’s another blow. His Chelsea career has been plagued time and again by problems with his fitness.
The 24-year-old former Borussia Dortmund player had started all three of Chelsea‘s games since returning from the World Cup in Qatar, but was taken off after 22 minutes against Manchester City.
Pulisic out for USMNT friendlies
The USMNT has friendlies against Serbia on January 26 and Colombia on January 29. Pulisic will be absent from those, but he will do his best to make the CONCACAF Nations League games, which will take place on March 24 and 27, respectively.
Pulisic’s injury is a new setback for Chelsea, with Reece James, Raheem Sterling, N’Golo Kante, Wesley Fofana and Ben Chilwell among the list of players on the treatment tables.
