Phil Foden has appeared to make his feelings clear on which Manchester City player was to blame for Amad Diallo’s late winner against them for Manchester United.

Amad completed a 2-1 comeback victory for United on 90 minutes – just 115 seconds after Bruno Fernandes had equalised from the penalty spot.

Shortly after the game resumed following that goal, United played the ball back to Lisandro Martinez, who played a lofted pass from defence that split the City defence and played Amad through on goal.

The Ivorian still had work to do, though, and needed to produce an exquisite first touch that lobbed City goalkeeper Ederson before then sliding the ball into the bottom right corner.

The defeat means City have now won one of their last 11 games in what is starting to develop into a crisis for manager Pep Guardiola.

And a moment from the match appears to show Foden indicating who may have been at fault for the Amad goal being allowed to develop.

Prior to Martinez receiving the ball to play his defence-splitting through pass, the England midfielder can be seen gesturing towards Erling Haaland in the direction of the Argentinian defender.

Had Haaland been closer to Martinez, he may not have been able to play the pass and instead been forced to explore other options.

The Norwegian striker failed to get on the scoresheet at the Etihad Stadium but is still City’s top goalscorer with 18 goals to his name this term.

Speaking after the defeat, meanwhile, Guardiola claimed that he had not been ‘good enough’ in searching for solutions to turn City’s poor form around.

He admitted: “All I have to do is keep working.

“I’m the boss, I’m the manager and I’m not good enough. It’s as simple as that.

“I have to find a way to talk to them, to the training pitch, to the way we have to play, how to press, how to build up.

“I’m not good enough, I’m not doing well. That is the truth. People say, ‘No, it’s that player’, and it’s fixed, they don’t play. But it’s not that.”
