Phil Foden has been branded ‘shameless’ by rival fans for what he posted on social media in wake of Manchester City’s crushing defeat to Liverpool.
Man City succumbed to Arne Slot’s red-hot Liverpool, who ran out 2-0 winners at Anfield last weekend.
Goals from Cody Gakpo and Mohamed Salah condemned Pep Guardiola‘s team to their fourth straight defeat in the Premier League.
The Blues are going through a tricky situation as Kyle Walker penned an open letter to fans amid their slump.
Foden, who started his side’s defeat at Liverpool, has failed to replicate his form from last season, having yet to open his account in the league this campaign.
He scored 19 league goals in a scintillating campaign last season, winning the PFA Players’ Player of the Year award for his heroics.
And he’s re-shared an image of himself holding the individual prize in an apparent response to criticism coming his way.

But his social media post on Instagram didn’t go down well among rival fans as they hit out at the ‘shameless’ upload.
One X user wrote: “Good… Now start playing like the person that had the ability to win that…”
A second tweeted: “Shameless 0 goals this season and he’s reminiscing on his peak at 24 years old.”
A third slammed: “Flexing past glory… where is shame.”
A fourth argued: “Him and Pep are right to brag about their achievements. What’s the point of winning if you can’t be proud of it.”
A fifth added: “He’s so rattled.”
Foden has just three goals to his name this season, having made 17 appearances across all competitions.
His side languish in fifth place, with 23 points on the board – 11 points adrift of leaders Liverpool.
Man City resume their league campaign on Wednesday when they host Nottingham Forest.
