Oleksandr Usyk has made a huge announcement just days before his eagerly-awaited rematch with Tyson Fury.

Usyk and Fury run it back following their undisputed showdown last May.

The Ukrainian edged out the Brit by split decision to collect every major world title in the heavyweight division.

Usyk and Fury renew hostilities on Saturday in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, as the WBA (super), WBC and WBO world heavyweight titles are on the line.

And ahead of his defending his belts, the 37-year-old has teased a huge career move.

Speaking to Sky Sports on Monday, he talked up the idea of returning to cruiserweight, having already become undisputed champion at the weight following his victory over Murat Gassiev back in July 2018.

“I’m try in cruiserweight again,” he revealed, in his broken English.

Asked if he could do it, Usyk replied: “Yeah, yeah, I try.”

Usyk left the cruiserweight division after stopping Tony Bellew in emphatic fashion back in November 2018.

He has six professional heavyweight fights to his name, notably beating Anthony Joshua (x2), Fury and Daniel Dubois, who currently holds the IBF world heavyweight title.

As it stands, there are three different cruiserweight world champions.

Gilberto Ramírez, who beat Chris Billam-Smith last month, holds the WBA (super) and WBO titles, Badou Jack is the WBC champion and Jai Opetaia is the IBF belt holder.

Usyk dropping down in weight would be a huge surprise considering his success at heavyweight not to mention his body transformation.

He now looks to be a fully-fledged heavyweight since moving up in weight, having shown off his physique ahead of his rematch against Fury.

Usyk captured the WBO, WBC, WBA (super) and IBF cruiserweight world titles during his stint at the weight.

He boasts wins over the likes of Mairis Briedis, Marco Huck, Krzysztof Głowacki and the aforementioned Gassiev.
