Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has turned down chance to manage Denmark as he’s ’in negotiations with major club’

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has turned down the opportunity to manage Denmark because he’s currently in negotiations with a ‘major’ club, according to reports.

Since being sacked by Manchester United in November 2021, the 51-year-old has rejected several job offers, including two proposals from clubs in the Saudi Pro League.

The Norwegian was also heavily linked with MLS club Charlotte FC, as well as newly-promoted Leicester City, who were keen on bringing Solskjaer to the King Power ahead of their Premier League return

But he is still without a club. In fact, the former Manchester United has rejected the chance to become Denmark’s new manager, according to Danish magazine Tipsbladet.

Back in July, Kasper Hjulmand stepped down as Denmark national team manager following their winless run at Euro 2024.

The DBU have been on the lookout for a permanent manager ever since and according to Tipsbladet, they reached out to Solskjaer regarding the opportunity.

But the Norwegian is currently in negotiations with a so-called ‘major’ club regarding a head coach role, therefore he did not want to enter into a job interview with Peter Møller and DBU.

Last month, Solskjaer spoke to a crowd of around 3,000 people at Oslo Business Forum. Here, he was asked about a possible return to Manchester United.

“If your family asks you, you say yes every day of the week,” he said, as quoted by Norwegian outlet VG. “It feels wrong to talk about jobs other people have. But I say yes.”

One thing is for sure; the Norwegian is keen to get back in the hot seat.

“I’ve got at least one club job in me. It has to be an interesting one, somewhere, an adventure, somewhere I can be myself,” he said at an event in New Delhi in February.

He added: “No disrespect but after you’ve managed Manchester United for three years it’s like where do you go? I want to feel that pressure again. When you see the games, you miss it.”
