Nottingham Forest have completed the signing of Marko Stamenic from Red Star Belgrade.

The New Zealand international, 22, will spend the 2024-25 season on loan at Olympiacos in Greece, a club also owned by Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis.

Stamenic has signed a five-year deal with Forest that will keep him at the City Ground until at least 2029.

The midfielder has been capped 14 times for his country, scoring one goal.

Stamenic began his career in his native New Zealand with Western Suburbs before moving to Team Wellington in 2019.  He then secured a transfer to Europe in 2020, joining Copenhagen’s youth team.

After a loan spell at HB Koge in Denmark, he made 23 appearances for Copenhagen’s first team before joining Red Star on a free transfer in the summer of 2023.

In his single season with the Serbian side, he made 35 appearances in all competitions, scoring two goals and providing one assist as he helped Red Star win the SuperLiga by 18 points.
