Details of the condition of legendary Formula One driver Michael Schumacher after his tragic skiing crash have emerged.

With a record-setting seven Formula One driver’s championships to his name, Schumacher is widely regarded as one of, if not the, best F1 drivers of all time.

But, just one year after retiring from the sport, Schumacher was involved in a life-altering skiing accident that led to him being airlifted to hospital in Grenoble.

Details of Schumacher’s condition after the accident have been scarce but now, some reports revealing how he communicates have emerged.

Schumacher’s accident, which happened while he was skiing in the French Alps with son Mick in December 2013, caused him to sustain serious head injuries, with doctors revealing that his ski helmet had saved his life.

And, according to Spanish press Majorcan daily Diario de Mallorca and Catalan daily La Vanguardia, via The Daily Mail, Elisabetta Gregoraci. the ex-wife of former Formula 1 team boss and QPR co-owner Flavio Briatore’s, has revealed details of his current condition.

She said: “Michael doesn’t speak, he communicates with his eyes.

“Only three people can visit him and I know who they are.”

Prior to Gregoraci’s revelation, the only details regarding Schumacher’s state were given by his caring wife Corinna, who spoke about the accident in a Netflix documentary in 2021.

“I miss Michael every day,” she said.

“But it is not just me who misses him. It’s the children, the family, his father, everyone around him. I mean, everybody misses Michael, but Michael is here.

“Different, but he’s here, and that gives us strength. We’re together. We live together at home.

“We do therapy. We do everything we can to make Michael better and to make sure he’s comfortable. And to simply make him feel our family, our bond.”

The privacy of her husband has been of paramount importance to Corinna since the crash, leading her to only allow a small number of trusted people to visit him.

“Private is private as he always said,” she added.

“It’s very important to me that he can continue to enjoy his private life as much as possible. Michael always protected us and now we are protecting Michael.”
