Marcus Rashford is undergoing a medical ahead of completing his loan move to Aston Villa from Manchester United.
The Athletic reported on Saturday the two clubs were close to agreeing a deal for the 27-year-old forward to spend the rest of the season at Villa Park.
Villa are set to pay a minimum of three-quarters of Rashford’s salary and up to 90 per cent depending on performance-based bonuses.
They will also have the option to make the move permanent in the summer for a fee of £40million.
Unai Emery has driven the pursuit of the England international and believes he is one of the world’s most dangerous attacking players who he can help return to his best form.
Marco Asensio will also undergo a medical on Sunday after a straight loan arrangement was agreed with Paris Saint-Germain.
The Spain international, 29, will join for the remainder of the season with PSG open to extending if Villa wish to.
He has been available for loan all month after he said in an interview in December he was “ready for a new challenge” with Barcelona, Milan and Borussia Dortmund among those interested around Europe.
Barring any late setbacks both players will now join a Villa side who are in the race for European qualification once again under Emery and are into the last 16 of the Champions League, where both will be eligible to feature if Villa register them.
Villa are next in action against Tottenham Hotspur in the FA Cup next Sunday before facing Ipswich Town in the Premier League the following weekend.
