Manchester United expect Leny Yoro to miss around three months with a foot injury, while Rasmus Hojlund is expected to be out for around six weeks with a hamstring injury.

Both players suffered the injuries in United’s pre-season defeat to Arsenal earlier this week and both will now miss the start of the 2024-25 campaign.

United have put an estimation of summer signing Yoro’s unavailability at three months with an initial scan showing a fracture of his fifth metatarsal; although further assessment will be required for the 18-year-old upon his return to the UK to provide clarity of a timeframe for his absence.

Yoro, United’s headline signing of the summer from Lille, was substituted off in the first half of the pre-season match after receiving treatment on the pitch.

Hojlund, 21, opening the scoring against Arsenal with a fine solo effort but had to be withdrawn with only a few minutes later with a hamstring injury.

The Denmark international is now likely to miss around six weeks of action, which would rule him out of selection for Erik ten Hag until after the first international break of the season in September.

Marcus Rashford and Antony both came off with injury knocks in the subsequent pre-season friendly win against Real Betis.

United were struck by a multitude of injuries last season with Luke Shaw, Tyrell Malacia, Harry Maguire, Lisandro Martinez and Mason Mount among those who endured lengthy periods of absence.

United play Manchester City in this season’s Community Shield at Wembley on August 10 before starting their Premier League campaign at home to Fulham six days later.
