Manchester United have set their price tag for Marcus Rashford amid reports the club are willing to sell him.

After coming through the academy, Rashford has spent the entirety of his professional career at United, scoring 138 goals in 425 games for the club.

But after a 30-goal season in Erik ten Hag’s first season at Old Trafford, his form has declined massively and he is no longer in contention for the England national team.

And despite scoring three times in new manager Ruben Amorim‘s first two games in the Premier League, it’s been claimed that Rashford could be offloaded in January, with United having already held talks about a possible departure.

Unlike previously, Rashford is “definitely not unsellable” according to Sky Germany‘s Florian Plettenberg.

As per Chris Wheeler from the Daily Mail, the Red Devils have already slapped a price tag on the 27-year-old ahead of the transfer window opening in January.

It’s said that even with Rashford contracted until 2028, United would consider offers of around £40 million for Rashford – £60 million less than what he would have commanded following his best season back in 2023.

The fee appears extremely low given Rashford’s qualities but United are in desperate need to adhere to profit and sustainability rules and also ensure Amorim has finances available to improve the squad.

As a homegrown player who represents pure profit on the PSR balance sheet, the possible sale of Rashford could be an easy fix to the situation and makes more sense than getting rid of fellow academy graduates Kobbie Mainoo and Alejandro Garnacho.

He is among the top earners at United, collecting around £325,000-a-week, but his rapport with the club’s supporters has soured in recent times.

The report does note that United feel they are unlikely to receive any offers in January despite reported interest from Paris Saint-Germain, who reportedly held a meeting with his representatives back in 2022.

Rashford has been with United since the age of seven and has regularly talked about wanting to win big honours with his boyhood club.

“I think as you get older, your dreams change as well. So, you know, in the beginning it was just about playing for Man United,” Rashford told the club’s website in the summer.

“And when you get there, it’s about winning. So I still have, you know, dreams of winning the big trophies, the Premier League and Champions League with Man United.

“So, you know, hopefully we can get that done.”

United are back in action on Thursday when they take on Viktoria Plzen in the Europa League.
