Manchester United have reportedly been linked with a move for a player who Ralf Rangnick told the club to sign.
Back in 2021, German Rangnick was appointed United interim manager after the departure of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Rangnick endured a tough spell in charge as he won 11, drew 10 and lost eight of his 29 matches at Old Trafford.
The 66-year-old was originally set to take a technical role at the club but left United to become manager of the Austrian national team.
During his time in charge, it was claimed that Rangnick recommended the club to sign four players.
As reported by Manchester Evening News, Rangnick put forward Christoph Nkunku, Erling Haaland, Konrad Laimer and Josko Gvardiol as four players United should target.
Recently, it was reported by Sky Sports Germany that United have shown an interest in Laimer, who is now playing for Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich.
As per The Metro, it has been suggested that Ruben Amorim has urged his bosses to sign the 27-year-old midfielder, who has caught his eyes.
The report stated: “Laimer’s versatility is especially appealing to Amorim, with the 27-year-old comfortable in midfield and at right-back, and United are said to be keeping close tabs on his situation at the Allianz Arena.

However, SPORT BILD has claimed that Laimer ‘feels comfortable’ at Bayern and is not considering a move away.
Speaking recently about his lack of regular starts under new boss Vincent Kompany, Laimer said: “As a player you always want to play, that’s football. The situation is what it is. I’m playing for Bayern Munich and you don’t get to play by wishing for it.
“At the end of the day, it’s always, as they say, a shark tank, you have to stand your ground. It’s clear that there’s a lot of competition, a lot of good players.”
Laimer added: “‘I want to fight my way through and I know I have what it takes.”
