Man Utd fans make decision on Tyrell Malacia after long-awaited return from injury

Tyrell Malacia has returned to action for Manchester United.

Manchester United fans have reacted to Tyrell Malacia’s return to action for the club.

After playing his last match in May 2023, Malacia made his long-awaited return for United‘s U21s on Tuesday night.

The United youngsters took on Huddersfield Town in the EFL Trophy at the John Smith’s Stadium, with Dutchman Malacia starting at left-back.

The 25-year-old suffered a serious knee injury and had been out of action for more than a year, but finally returned for the club against Huddersfield.

During the first half, United fans were left impressed by the full-back’s performance.

Reacting on social media, one fan said: “Tyrell Malacia looked sharp in his first half back from injury!”

Another tweeted: “Malacia just made a superb challenge in midfield – really clean contact to win the ball. He’s looked relatively sharp considering this is his first game for 517 days.”

A third fan added: “Malacia looks very comfortable too say he’s been out so long.”

Someone else wrote: “I know Tyrell Malacia is going to cook for us this season.”

A fifth commented: “Let Malacia cook.”

Another fan said: “This is what we like to see.”

Malacia’s comeback ended after the first half, with youngster Harry Amass coming on at the start of the second period.

Manchester Evening News’s Steve Railston wrote on social media: “Tyrell Malacia is coming off at half-time and the expectation is he’ll be replaced by Harry Amass. Amass ON and Malacia OFF for the second half.”

United are looking ahead to a new era under the guidance of Ruben Amorim, who replaced the sacked Erik ten Hag this week.

Speaking recently, the Portuguese said: “I feel ready for the new challenge. I’m not naive, I know it’s going to be very different, very difficult.

“I’m at peace now. I can focus on my new job and I’m looking forward to starting tomorrow.”

Amorim added: “I know it will be difficult to reproduce what I have here anywhere else but there are other places with different exposure and pressure.”

Amorim’s first match in charge of United will be a Premier League clash against Ipswich Town next weekend.
