Manchester United are reportedly tracking a Sporting Lisbon star after their 4-1 win over Manchester City – and it isn’t Viktor Gyokeres.
Sporting thrashed City 4-1 at the Estadio Jose Alvalade on Tuesday evening, having come from behind following Phil Foden’s first-half opener.
The victory moved Ruben Amorim‘s side up to second in the Champions League group stage, with only Liverpool ahead of them.
It was the last home game in charge of Sporting for Amorim, who will officially become Manchester United manager on November 11.
And it is being reported that United are already tracking a Sporting player – although it isn’t the widely linked Gyokeres.
Instead, the Manchester Evening News report that the club are tracking winger Geovany Quenda, 17, who was one of Sporting’s top-performing players against City.
Quenda came through Sporting’s youth academy after leaving Liga Portugal rivals Benfica at the age of 13.
Amorim gave the winger his debut in the first team in August, during which he scored and became Sporting’s youngest-ever goalscorer.

He has featured in every game for the club this season, either as a starter or off the bench, and has been deployed in a right wing-back role.
The MEN report that United have been tracking Quenda since the beginning of the season as they look to continue a long-standing policy – though more loosely enforced in some seasons compared to others – of signing young players at the beginning of their careers.
However, one key obstacle for the Red Devils’ new recruitment team to jump over is the winger’s buyout clause, which stands at €100 million.
The Hard Tackle claim that Sporting will not settle for less than this figure. However, Leny Yoro had a reported release clause of £78 million yet United paid an initial fee of £42 million to sign the 18-year-old centre-back from Lille in the summer.
