Manchester United fans want Ruben Amorim to bring a Sporting CP player with him to Old Trafford – and it’s not striker Victor Gyokeres.
The Swedish sensation bagged a hat-trick as Sporting came from behind to beat United’s rivals Manchester City 4-1 in Amorim’s final home game with the Lisbon outfit.
After spurning an opportunity when played through on-on-one, the former Coventry City striker more made amends with a clinical finish to equalise with half-time approaching – before he converted an emphatic penalty almost straight after Maximiliano Araujo had made it 2-1 straight after half-time.
He then put away a second spot-kick to make it 4-1 and secure the match ball.
Gyokeres now has 22 goals already this season and is the kind of deadly striker United are crying out for.
However United supporters were also impressed with another player in Sporting’s side. Morten Hjulmand, who scored for Denmark against England at Euro 2024, is Sporting’s captain and produced a classy display at the heart of the midfield.
And he’s already been in touch with United striker and compatriot Rasmus Hojlund.
“I’m really looking forward to it,” he told Viaplay, as per Sport Witness.
“Good ideas. I have seen how they play. I have spoken to Morten [Hjulmand] about it, and he is also very satisfied with the coach, so I am really looking forward to him setting foot here.”

And after seeing a strong performance, United fans feel it’s a no brainer for Hjulmand to join Amorim at United.
One commented: “This game has proven to me exactly why I said I wanted Hjulmand.”
A second said: “I get all the Victor G fuzz and could be a decent signing but for me the first Sporting player i would take is Morten Hjulmand, we need good midfielders and he is a monster in Sporting.”
A third added: ” Fairs Morten Hjulmand I wasn’t familiar with your game
A fourth user wrote: “Hjulmand’s been great every time I’ve watched him.”
The only cause for concern for United fans is the fact that Hjulmand has an Arsenal tattoo as he is a lifelong fan of the Gunners.
