Luton Town have been relegated from the Premier League.
Rob Edwards’ side were all but demoted a week ago and required a significant goal-difference swing on the final day of the campaign on Sunday to stand any chance of a miracle turnaround.
It wasn’t to be, however, with a combination of a 4-2 home defeat to Fulham and 17th-placed Nottingham Forest’s win at Burnley ensuring they go back down after just one year back in the top flight.

Luton secured promotion via the Championship play-offs last season as they returned to the top tier of English football for the first time since 1992, having played in the National League — the fifth level of the pyramid — as recently as 2015.
Edwards’ side won just once in their final 16 Premier League matches — a 2-1 home victory over Bournemouth on April 6 — having previously picked up 11 points over a six-game run in January and February.
That had temporarily lifted them out of the relegation zone, but a run of 10 defeats in 13 league matches saw them drop back into the bottom three and they ultimately never recovered.
Burnley saw their one-season return to the top flight end last weekend after losing at Tottenham Hotspur, while Sheffield United’s own relegation was confirmed after their heavy defeat by Newcastle United last month.
