Red Bull have struck an agreement with one of Liverpool’s first-team players, just a day after the energy drink company announced Jurgen Klopp as their new global head of soccer.
From January 1st onwards, Klopp will oversee Red Bull’s international network of football clubs which include RB Leipzig, New York Red Bulls and Red Bull Salzburg.
He is expected to support the organisation’s global scouting operation, as well as contribute to the training and development of coaches.
“After almost 25 years on the sideline, I could not be more excited to get involved in a project like this,” Klopp said. “The role may have changed but my passion for football and the people who make the game what it is has not.”
A day after the news emerged and Liverpool midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai has confirmed a partnership deal with Red Bull.
Szoboszlai, who joined Liverpool from Bundesliga side RB Leipzig last summer, featured in an announcement video with the Red Bull team on Instagram.
PSG midfielder Xavi Simons, who is currently on loan at Leipzig, also features in the clip, where he can be seen welcoming Szoboszlai to “the Red Bull family” on FaceTime.
Since joining Liverpool, the Hungarian has struck three major brand partnerships, with McDonalds and Telekom also teaming up with the midfielder.
Szoboszlai isn’t the first Liverpool player to partner with the Austrian energy drink company. Back in 2019, Trent Alexander-Arnold said “big things were coming” after joining the Red Bull family.

Earlier this week, Szoboszlai said he is determined to realise a childhood dream with Liverpool.
“I want to win the Champions League,” the 23-year-old said, as quoted by The Mirror. “When I was a kid, I wanted to hear the anthem on the field, then I wanted to score. Then I wanted to be a national-team player, then I wanted to be captain. I did all of that.”
He added: “Now, as I’m playing in the Premier League, of course I want to win the Premier League with Liverpool. And I want to win the Champions League as well. So, I have big goals, but I set goals for myself that are realistic.”
