Liverpool journalist gives major Trent Alexander-Arnold update after concerning Real Madrid reports

There has been a key update on the situation regarding Trent Alexander-Arnold’s future at Liverpool.

A respected Liverpool journalist has allayed fears from supporters with a huge update on Trent Alexander-Arnold’s future.

Alexander-Arnold‘s contract with his boyhood club is nearing its end and due to expire at the end of the season.

Fellow key players Virgil van Dijk and Mo Salah are in a similar position and there are huge worries from Liverpool fans that they could lose all three for nothing in the summer.

There has no agreement on fresh terms from Alexander-Arnold, who has been heavily linked with Real Madrid.

Fabrizio Romano recently reported that the European champions are closely monitoring the situation having made him a top target.

On Thursday, Spanish newspaper MARCA had Alexander-Arnold on the front of their newspaper and as per Sport Witness, “already know” that he will not be extending his stay with Liverpool.

They also went on to add that they could even try and snap him up in January following Dani Carvajal’s ACL injury.

But there is a positive update for Liverpool fans as journalist David Lynch claims Alexander-Arnold leaving is not a foregone conclusion.

He appeared on the Anfield Agenda YouTube channel to discuss the latest and claimed that conversations are still ongoing between Alexander-Arnold and the club.

“My understanding is there’s no resignation on Liverpool’s part [on Trent],” Lynch said.

“At the moment he’s still trying to work through with Liverpool and get that contract sorted.

“He still wants to stay but it’s still a case of getting that done and making sure he gets what he wants and that Liverpool get what they want.

“I still lean towards optimism on that because I just think it would look so poor for Liverpool to lose him. They will throw absolutely everything that they can to sort it out.”

After scoring a stunning free-kick in a Man of the Match display for England against Finland, Alexander-Arnold is expected to line up for Liverpool when they face Chelsea in a huge Premier League clash on Sunday.

The Reds are the league leaders with 18 points from seven games.
