Lee Carsley introduces revolutionary 'secret weapon' in England training which no other manager has used

Carsley has introduced a new ‘weapon’ to England training.

Lee Carsley has introduced a ‘revolutionary weapon’ to England training as the interim manager prepares his side to take on Greece in the Nations League.

The Three Lions face two Nations League clashes during the current international break, with Finland their other opponents next week in Helsinki.

Carsley has made several changes to the squad from the last international break in September, with Kyle Walker and Jude Bellingham both returning to the setup.

Tino Livramento and Curtis Jones received late call-ups following withdrawals, while Dominic Solanke is back in the England fold for the first time in seven years.

Now, fresh off the back of two wins in his opening two matches in charge, Carsley has introduced a major change to training at St George’s Park.

The Sun report that he has brought ‘power sleds’ – a device used to help develop power in players – to the training ground.

It is said that they are used for overall conditioning, and help to promote strength development, speed and acceleration.

The device is also said to have a similar impact to that of a bench press, given the forces used to push it.

They are said to be worth £2,000 each, with England chiefs clearly feeling the investment to be worth it as the Three Lions continue their pursuit of an early return to League A in the Nations League.

They were relegated from the top division during the last cycle, in a group that contained Germany, Italy and Hungary.

Carsley is now the heavy favourite to take over the managerial role full-time, with reports emerging earlier this month that the FA are yet to speak to potential successors after Gareth Southgate‘s resignation almost three months ago.

Southgate quit his role after Euro 2024, with Carsley tasked with leading England through the early stages of preparation for the 2026 World Cup – and potentially all the way up to the tournament in the United States, Canada and Mexico.
