Jamie Carragher has broken his silence on the David Coote controversy after being widely criticised for remaining silent on the matter.
Coote has been suspended by the PGMOL and is also the subject of an FA investigation after a video appeared to show him making insulting comments about Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp.
In the foul-mouthed chat, the man who resembles Coote can be seen calling Klopp a “German c***” and labeling the 57-year-old “f***ing arrogant”, while also describing Liverpool as “s***” in a game at Anfield where had “recently” served as fourth official.
Coote has been placed on immediate suspension as an investigation into the viral video continues.
Sky Sports pundits Carragher and Gary Neville are typically quick to react to all major stories but after seeing no comment from either, fans began to call them out on social media.
But after one fan branded the pair “fully fledged sell outs” and accused them of “selective outrage”, Carragher hit back.
The Liverpool legend responded furiously and confirmed his opinion will be available in the next episode of the Overlap.
On X, Carragher wrote: “No, what we have learned is you & plenty of others are desperate for attention by throwing our names in your tweets about any controversy in football.
“I gave my opinion on it @WeAreTheOverlap yesterday morning, it drops tomorrow. I’m sure you’ll see it!”
