Jadon Sancho is likely to leave Manchester United permanently or on loan before the transfer window closes — and the club are in talks with Juventus and Chelsea about a deal for the 24-year-old winger.
The Juventus interest dates back to the January market, while Chelsea’s pursuit is more recent but equally credible as an option in the coming days.
For Chelsea to proceed with a switch it would probably require a player to go the opposite way and at present Raheem Sterling is viewed as the most feasible of the candidates discussed.
A lot needs to happen for that possibility to materialise, as Sterling intends to resolve a complicated contractual situation at Chelsea before deciding his next destination.
The 29-year-old winger is not part of the plans at Stamford Bridge, however he still has three years left on terms worth more than £300,000 per week.
United will also have to ponder whether the prospect makes financial and footballing sense to them.
Sancho spent the second half of last season on loan at Borussia Dortmund, scoring three goals across 21 appearances to help the Bundesliga club reach the Champions League final.
He returned to United first-team training earlier this summer for the first time since September 2023 after refusing to apologise to Ten Hag following a dispute.
He was, however, left out of the squad for both of United’s opening games of the Premier League season which the manager explained was due to the difficulties of finding places for everyone in his squad.
Sancho joined United from Dortmund in the summer of 2021 in an £85m deal and has gone on to feature 83 times, scoring 12 goals.
