Manchester City’s Jack Grealish has made his feelings clear on being left out of Gareth Southgate’s Euro 2024 squad.

Grealish fell out of favour with the ex-England boss, which resulted in his omission from the Euros squad.

However, since Southgate’s departure, Grealish has returned to the fold.

England’s interim boss Lee Carsley included him in his squad for September’s internationals.

Grealish answered critics with a goal in England’s 2-0 win against the Republic of Ireland on September 7.

Speaking about being left out of Southgate’s squad, the City winger admitted he “didn’t really agree with it” in an interview with BBC Radio 5 Live.

However, he did concede that he “didn’t have the best season” for his club leading up to the tournament.

The Birmingham-born player still had a Premier League medal to show for his efforts last term.

But his personal performances did not reach the level of the previous year – in which City won the treble.

“You need a bit of a balance in every position on the pitch, and I class myself [as] quite an experienced player now.

“I have won a lot of stuff now, so, you asked me should I have gone, yes, I still think I should have, but obviously, it wasn’t meant to be,” explained Grealish.

He stressed how he feels he has a point to prove despite already earning 38 caps for his country.

“Of course, I wanted to come here and train well and play well,” said the 29-year-old.

“I thank the manager, Lee Carsley, for giving me that chance and having that trust in me.

“It obviously really meant a lot, I think throughout my career when I have played under managers who have shown trust in me and communicated with me the way he has the last two camps, it really helps me.

“It makes me feel that the manager really does rate me, and I can’t speak highly enough of him since I have been here.”

Grealish will likely play a part in England’s upcoming games.

The Three Lions will play host to Greece on Thursday 10 October.

Three days later, they will make a trip to the Helsinki Olympic Stadium for a clash with Finland.
