Fulham complete Sander Berge signing from Burnley

Fulham have completed the signing of midfielder Sander Berge from Burnley.

The Athletic reported Fulham were close to completing the signing of Berge after agreeing to pay a fee worth £20million plus £5m in potential add-ons.

Personal terms were already in place for the 26-year-old, who travelled to London for a medical on Tuesday.

He becomes Fulham’s fourth signing of the summer following the arrivals of Ryan Sessegnon, Jorge Cuenca and Emile Smith Rowe.

Berge bolsters Marco Silva’s midfield options following  Joao Palhinha’s move to Bayern Munich. Fulham have had bids for Manchester United’s Scott McTominay turned down this summer in an attempt to strengthen in midfield.

Berge had been identified as a potential midfield option for United.

The Norway international played no part in either of Burnley’s opening two games of the Championship campaign under new head coach Scott Parker, who replaced Vincent Kompany earlier this summer.

He made 37 appearances last term as Burnley were relegated from the Premier League.

Berge joined the Turf Moor club from Sheffield United last summer, signing a four-year contract at the club ahead of the 2023-24 campaign.

He progressed through the youth ranks at Norwegian lower league side Asker and earned a move to Valerenga in the country’s top flight in 2015 before he switched to Genk in 2017.
