Unseen footage emerges of full-time incident with Alejandro Garnacho and Bruno Fernandes after he refused to celebrate Man Utd goal

Alejandro Garnacho did not celebrate his goal for Manchester United against Leicester City, with captain Bruno Fernandes commenting.

Full footage has emerged of a full-time incident involving Bruno Fernandes and Alejandro Garnacho after the latter refused to celebrate his goal for Manchester United against Leicester City.

Garnacho came off the bench to score the third and final goal at Old Trafford, where Ruud van Nistelrooy enjoyed his final game as interim boss before Ruben Amorim takes the reins.

He received the ball on the left flank and curled an unstoppable effort into the top corner. But while many will have expected him to celebrate wildly, Garnacho did the exact opposite and didn’t appear all that happy to find the net.

Fans immediately theorised that Garnacho refrained from celebration after recent criticism and after the game captain Fernandes was seen in conversation with the Argentina international, with TV cameras picking up the exchange.

In a longer clip from @strettynews on TikTok, Fernandes can be seen talking to Garnacho before Amad Diallo came over and shared an embrace.

Lisandro Martinez, Joshua Zirkzee and Andre Onana also had a consoling of sorts with Garnacho, who looked a little dejected.

Garnacho was recently patronised by a fan ahead of the Europa League clash with PAOK, being told to “pass better, score a goal and work on your first touch”.

He proceeded to reply, “Why are you not playing?” to the supporter.

Garnacho himself hasn’t explained why he chose not to celebrate but Fernandes did confirm that his decision was related to fan comments.

Speaking to the BBC, he said: “Garnacho scored a banger but didn’t celebrate like he should because he thinks he has lost faith from some fans. I told him people will always moan but lots of people like you and enjoy what you do.

“I told him to celebrate, it was something special. He is a special player, we have difference makers. They are the ones who win us games. We want them to score every game but that isn’t going to happen.”

In all competitions this season, Garnacho has seven goals and four assists in 18 appearances.
