The pair were involved in a heated moment late in the game.

Former Manchester United player Shola Shoretire was caught in a strange full-time incident shortly after a furious clash with Casemiro.

United finally claimed their first European win of the season on Thursday night as they defeated Greek side PAOK 2-0 at Old Trafford.

Youngster Amad Diallo stole the show in the match, scoring both goals, but another key moment came in injury time as former United player Shoretire was involved in a heated with Casemiro following a clumsy tackle from the Englishman.

And after the full-time whistle was blown, the two men met again in another awkward moment.

After the match ended, Shoretire approached his former teammates to greet them and congratulate them on the win and was immediately grabbed by United defender Lisandro Martinez to go and apologise to Casemiro.

The incident between the two players happened in the third minute of extra time at the end of the second half, as Shoretire struck the ball and hit Casemiro’s leg with the follow through.

The Brazilian immediately fell to the ground in pain before getting up and aggressively shouting at Shoretire until teammate Mason Mount and referee Radu Petrescu split the pair.

And when Martinez tried to bring the pair together after the game so that the 20-year-old could apologise, they eventually shock hands after Casemiro initially appeared to blank the two men.

Having joined the academy in 2013, Shoretire spent three years as a senior player at United but left over the summer, after his contract expired to join PAOK, signing a four-year deal with the Greek side.

Just days after his senior debut at the age of 17, the forward made history in February 2021 as he became the youngest player to represent United in European competition during the 4-0 Europa League win over Real Sociedad.

Speaking ahead of his return to Old Trafford, Shoretire said: “It’s an amazing feeling to be back. When we found out we were playing against them, it was a big surprise, but very nice to be back.

“Of course it was difficult to leave, but I felt it was the right moment for my career. PAOK seemed like a very good club to go to, and I’m very happy with how it’s gone so far.”
