Fulham have offered Bobby De Cordova-Reid a new two-year contract as talks continue over his future.
The 31-year-old’s current deal will expire next month and while there is not yet an agreement, both sides are hopeful that one can be reached.
De Cordova-Reid has previously expressed his desire to extend his stay at Craven Cottage. He told The Athletic in January: “Obviously, I want an agreement to happen, but things take time so we’ll know more in the future.”
Fulham head coach Marco Silva equally outlined Fulham’s intention to retain De Cordova-Reid in March. “Our ambition, and what we want, is to have (him) with us again next season,” he said.
De Cordova-Reid signed for Fulham in August 2019 on loan from Cardiff City, before the move was made permanent in January 2020. Last year, the club exercised an option to extend the contract until summer 2024.
He has since become an important figure at the club, both as a versatile option for coach Silva, capable of playing in any of the forward positions and as a right-back when required, as well as a leader within the group. He is one of Fulham’s ‘group captains’, behind skipper Tom Cairney, and has worn the armband on three occasions this season.
He has made 33 Premier League appearances during this campaign, scoring six goals and providing two assists. Overall, he has made 209 appearances for the west London side and netted on 32 occasions.
As reported by The Athletic, Fulham triggered a contract extension clause in Kenny Tete’s contract last week, extending his stay for 12 months. Tosin Adarabioyo, meanwhile, will depart the club next month when his contract expires. He is in talks with Newcastle United.
The contracts of Willian and Marek Rodak are also set to expire next month. Willian will make a decision over his future in the coming weeks, with Fulham are keen to retain his services.
