Arsenal fans have spotted Myles Lewis-Skelly’s subtle dig at Erling Haaland on Instagram

The Arsenal youngster had a confrontation with Haaland late on at the Etihad Stadium.

Myles Lewis-Skelly has aimed a subtle dig at Erling Haaland on Instagram after Arsenal’s 2-2 draw with Manchester City.

Lewis-Skelly had an eventful afternoon at the Etihad Stadium, making his Premier League debut as a second half substitute.

He was booked minutes before coming on for his debut – becoming the first player in Premier League history to ‘achieve’ the feat – after running behind the goal to give tactical instructions to goalkeeper David Raya.

PGMOL later confirmed that the 17-year-old was cautioned due to showing ‘a lack of respect for the game’, which falls under the ‘unsporting behaviour‘ section of the Laws of the Game.

There was also a flashpoint near full-time, when Lewis-Skelly confronted Haaland for barging into Thomas Partey off the ball.

Haaland appeared to shout at him: “Who the f**k are you?”

In an Instagram post following the match, Lewis-Skelly reflected on his debut and how far he had come since joining the Arsenal academy at the age of nine.

But it is what was in the comments section that caught the eye of Gunners fans.

One of the replies to his post read: “Can’t wait for you to score the winner against City at the Emirates and run over to Haaland asking him who the f**k he is.”

The comment was liked by the young Arsenal midfielder – who will hope to be playing regularly by the time of the reverse fixture in February.

Arsenal U18 manager Jack Wilshere has regularly sung the praises of Lewis-Skelly, and spoke in glowing terms about one moment the then 16-year-old produced in an FA Youth Cup semi-final against City in 2023.

He explained: “One moment that sticks out for me was the Youth Cup semi-final, and Myles Lewis-Skelly scoring the header.

“He’s an under-16 [at the time], so he was at school doing his GCSEs and on a hybrid training system.

“So to have a moment like that, in the 120th minute, when you don’t really train much, you’re still a boy and you’ve still got baby lungs, it was sensational. There’s something in him that I really like.”
