Xherdan Shaqiri gets initially MLS player to score at a European Championship

Xherdan Shaqiri grew to become the 1st Main League Soccer participant to score at a European Championship with his purpose for Switzerland in opposition to Scotland.

The Chicago Fire winger fired in from the edge of the place to equalise and make the score 1-1 at RheinEnergieStadion in Cologne.

The strike came from a Scotland mistake as Anthony Ralston tried to move the ball to fellow defender Grant Hanley but misplaced it.

Shaqiri, 32, then reacted fastest before unleashing a curling still left-footed shot initial-time to come across the prime corner at the near put up leaving goalkeeper Angus Gunn stranded.

Shaqiri joined the Fire in 2022 as the most costly signing in club record and has long gone on to make 75 appearances, scoring 16 plans and introducing 13 helps.

A veteran of European football prior to his shift to the U.S, he previously spent time with Bayern Munich, Inter Milan and Liverpool among many others.

He has 123 caps for his state and has scored 31 goals.

Switzerland defeated Hungary in their opening sport of Euro 2024 and close out Team A towards event hosts Germany on June 23.
