With just one day to go (April 2) before Inter Miami hosts Rayados de Monterrey at the Chase Stadium (game takes place on April 3), there are fears that the FIFA World Cup-winning Lionel Messi might be absent due to marketing from David Beckham‘s soccer club.
The Floridian team launched a new call to its fans on its social media to attend the match, by showing that tickets are still available for the continental soccer clash but crucially they did not use Messi in the marketing.
The club, owned by David Beckham, released a video with images of the last home game against New York City FC, in which Messi, absent since March 8 was not present, although they did show a flag with his image displayed in the stands.
The high price of the tickets (ranging from $125 to $450) does not help fans to go to Chase Stadium, although Messi‘s presence could be confirmed today if Gerardo Tata Martino appears before the press before the match against Monterrey.
So, with Messi‘s presence against the Mexican club far from guaranteed, it has meant that people have not flocked to the venue, clearly demonstrating the attraction among soccer lovers to see the Argentinian player work his magic.
Will Lionel Messi play?
Martino had stated after the draw against the New York team that the physique of the captain of the Argentina National Team would be evaluated daily to determine whether he would be on the list of those called up to CONCACAF.
Messi was initially forecast to return from a hamstring injury on March 14, but now that has been amended to sometime around mid-April so it is clear that neither the player, mainly, nor the club would take the slightest risk to include Messi in a match if his recovery is not ideal.
The proximity of the Copa America, to be played in the United States, and his possible appearance at the Paris Olympics are the objectives for his physical condition to be taken care of to the maximum.
Messi has now missed games against DC United, New York Red Bulls and NYCFC.
