A new star has just landed in Hollywood. Just as David Beckham did in the summer of 2007 after winning LaLiga with Real Madrid, Marco Reus has joined the LA Galaxy at the age of 35. He signs until December 2026.

Before the end of the season, Marco Reus announced he would be leaving Borussia Dortmund after 12 seasons in an emotional video. He did so as the player with the fourth most appearances (429) in the club’s history, the second most goals (170) and the most assists (131).

“Marco Reus is a world-class player who has excelled at the highest level of the sport, including playing in two Champions League finals with Borussia Dortmund and at the FIFA World Cup with the German National Team,” acknowledged Will Kuntz, general manager of the LA Galaxy.

He did so, moreover, before sealing qualification for the Champions League final against Real Madrid. Eleven years later, he returned to Wembley to try to write the last chapter of a story that has given him more disappointment than joy in the form of titles. Unfortunately, however, luck was not on his side.

Before that, however, the club paid him a heartfelt tribute in his last match at the Signal Iduna Park. It was a celebration worthy of a legend such as Marco Reus, who signed off with a goal and an assist in the 4-0 win over Darmstadt.

He will now play out the last chapter of his career alongside Riqui Puig at LA Galaxy, who are second in MLS, on the heels of David Beckham‘s very own Inter Miami. He is a ‘luxury’ addition to put Leo Messi, Luis Suarez, Sergio Busquets, Jordi Alba and company in trouble. Hollywood has a new star.

“We look forward to Marco’s contributions to the LA Galaxy as we enter the critical final stretch of the 2024 MLS season and beyond,” added Will Kuntz.
