A player in a Pink and Black number 10 shirt called Messi is winning trophies for Inter Miami CF, but this Messi still has an entire career in front of him.
As Lionel Messi prepares to kick off his first full season in MLS, he watched on with joy while his 11-year-old son Thiago amazed social media with a sensational goal to help the Inter Miami academy team lift a trophy.
Thiago Messi scores a golazo just like his dad
It was reminiscent of the Inter Miami captain’s heroic performance in the 2023 Leagues Cup Final in August, when his trademark left-footed curler and a converted penalty in the shootout led the MLS side to its first trophy.
Thiago’s goal instead came with the right foot, but it was every bit as impressive. The ball was crossed high into the box from the left wing, where Thiago met the ball before it bounced, sending the first-time shot flying into the bottom corner.
Fans take notice of Thiago’s incredible goalscoring record
The young Messi has already built up significant fan fare at his games with the Under-12s. According to unconfirmed reports on social media, he scored 13 goals and seven assists in his first six games. Many of his fantastic plays have been recorded and shared widely on social media by fans eager to find an heir to the Messi legacy.
But nobody shows more attention to Thiago Messi during his games than Lionel. Videos from the final showed his dad beaming with joy as he watched from the sideline alongside new teammate Luis Suarez.
As Leo gets set for the 2024 MLS season, he has some work to do if he wants to remain the best Messi in town.
