Middlesbrough’s Emmanuel Latte Lath is expected to join MLS club Atlanta United for an MLS record fee in the region of $22-24m plus add-ons.
The 26-year-old forward had a medical in London before flying out to finalise the details of the move to the MLS club.
The Athletic reported in the DealSheet earlier this month that talks were continuing for Latte Lath over a move to Atlanta.
Other clubs in Europe and the Premier League have also been monitoring the situation.
Latte Lath joined second-tier Middlesbrough in the summer of 2023 and scored 18 goals in his debut season. He has 11 goals in 29 Championship appearances in 2024-25.
The forward, who has been capped two times by Ivory Coast, made just three first-team appearances for Italian club Atalanta — all in the Coppa Italia in 2016-17, before multiple loan spells.
He scored 16 goals for Swiss club St. Gallen in 2022-23, preceding his move to Middlesbrough for whom he has become a key player as the club aim for a first return to the Premier League since 2017. The striker was named EFL Championship Player of the Month for April 2024.
